Hi, i'm Owen. I have a 09 plate 1.8 tdci s-max & changed the fuel filter today, the engine started & ran for 10 secs then stopped & hasn't restarted. there doesn't seem to be fuel being pumped to filter housing but i have syphoned some through using a pipe on on supply to the injector pump.

No, it's probably electrical. A mechanical issue with the shutoff solenoid linkage wouldn't fix itself like that.
