The super slim has a shiny surface, and is much lighter. Touching it gives a bit of cheap plastic feel though. CD drive: You feed the slim your CD. Kind of like how car stereo CD players are. Push a button and the console will slide out the CD. In the super slim, you need to manually open the top cover, snap in the disk, then close the cover. Just simply unplug the PS3 slim from the power outlet, then hold down the eject button, and plug in the power cord it will cause the fans to whirl at their highest settings to blow out the dust. After that, use can air, then once you blow more dust out, you repeat the fan test. I really dislike the design of the Super Slim. They cut it down for too many cost savings. Rogerthrottleup. •. XERD 8 years ago #1. For some reason, my Super Slim PS3 stopped reading discs. It was working fine just two days ago, and no one's touched it since. Today when I put one of my PS3 games in there, I hear the disc spin for about a second and then it stops. It then spins again for another second and stops.
Nope the slim models went thru 3-4 different manufacturers for their OEM fans some where 17 fins which mostly found in cech 2001a and possibly 2101a and the 23fin models come equipped in the cech 2501a I have all the iterations of the fans since I own a few part consoles just wanted to figure out which one would be a good fan over the 23fin model since that one is a bit loud but from the looks *NOTE* This is for the newer PS3 SLIM (not the newly released 2013 remodeled slim - I know confusing) the model shown here is a 320gb and is from 2011/2012.
